Four Blount County families meet for reunion

For the past 30 years four Blount County families have hosted a reunion during the last weekend in September. For three days, relatives of the Murphree, Allgood, Bynum, and Cornelius families gather for research and reunion. On Friday, the members visited the Blount County Memorial Museum to research family history. “Everyone from the families are invited to the reunion,” said Linda Jordan, a member of the Murphree family. Jordan, a Texas native, was a part of one of three groups from the state. Two groups from Florida also attended the reunion. “Coming to Blount County gives us a chance to visit where our ancestors lived, where they are buried, and where they went to church,” Jordan said. -Nicole Singleton
