Former Blount County musician competes in Texas

Braeden Laird will perform with the Texas All-State 6A Wind Ensemble next weekend as a part of the 2018 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention. He was chosen through a competitive process held in Texas high schools. Braeden is the son of Wes and Sharon Laird and grandson of the late W.A. and Mary Evelyn Ellis and the late Don and Annette Laird.

More than 70,000 students enter the competitive process. Only 1,780 are chosen to perform at the convention. Students participate in three days of rehearsals directed by nationally-recognized conductors and compete in eight competitions.
