Falcons fly past Eagles

The Appalachian Eagles put up plenty of yards but points were a different story as the visitors fell 35-12 at Donoho last Friday.

The Eagles finished the night 352 total yards – 162 on the ground, 191 through the air – but the Falcons’ bigplay offense repeatedly gashed the Eagle defense.

Jasper Hutchens completed 13 of 22 passing for 226 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Eagles and his favorite target was Peyton Dean, who caught five passes for 116 yards and both touchdowns.

Noah Harris added six catches for 90 yards and Devin Payne had two receptions for 19 yards.

Payne battled his way for 121 yards on 18 carries while Hutchens rushed for 27 yards on five attempts.

Defensively, Jonathon Garcia and Daniel Alarcon led the Eagles with 12 tackles each, and Alarcon also recovered a Donoho fumble.

Chase Roberts had 10 stops while Isaac Duarte had nine tackles and Dustin Tuggle had six. Colton Davis had the team’s only sack.

Appalachian fell to 2-5 overall, 0-4 in 1A Region 4. The Eagles will travel to Woodville (3-2) for a non-region game Friday night.
