Eldred ‘Mack’ Griffin

ELDRED ‘MACK’ GRIFFIN, 94, Oneonta, died Nov. 4, 2021, at the residence. He was stationed in Juneau, Alaska, during World War II; he also served during the Korean War. He attended Green’s Chapel Church for more than 60 years and was a member of Chaney’s Chapel Church in Jackson County. He retired from U.S. Steel in 1980. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Panthers, the Atlanta Braves, and Auburn football. In his later years he visited homebound friends and volunteered at the Locust Fork Baptist Church Recreation Center. Predeceasing him were wife of 72 years Vera Mae Johnson Griffin and grandchild Lee Stockman.

Surviving are children Randall (Connie Ann) Griffin, Connie Sue (Kevin) Henson; grandchildren Josh Price, Jonathan Price, Grant Griffin, Charity.

Funeral service was held Nov. 8, at 11 a.m., at Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home. Burial followed at Green’s Chapel Cemetery.
