Earl Warren will be the guest speaker at the Blount County-Oneonta Chamber of Commerce luncheon today at noon at Twin Oaks at Heritage in Oneonta. Warren, a former Oneonta High School and Jacksonville State University basketball standout, is director of development at Jacksonville State. A focus of the luncheon is the leadership camp the chamber is hosting in partnership with the Blount County Education Foundation. The two-day camp will involve about a dozen 7th- to 12th-grade students from throughout the county, and will involve introducing them to current county leaders by way of a series of panels: local county officials, a business panel, a mayor’s panel and a legislative panel. Warren will bring expertise to the subject, having worked for Boys and Girls Clubs of America for 15 years before being hired for his present job in 2006. He is married to the former Melody Johnson, also from Oneonta. They have two sons, Keenan and Kobe.
