DONALD ‘DON’ MAX DIGGS passed away peacefully on Oct. 2, 2019. He was 73 years old. Mr. Diggs was born in Etowah County on Jan. 28, 1946, to Rev. W.H. and Ena (Lambert) Diggs. He graduated from Ashville High School. He married Bivia White in December 1967. He worked as a broadcast engineer for WVTM NBC 13 for 23 years and retired in 2003. Mr. Diggs enjoyed many opportunities pertaining to music, whether it was leading a church music department, playing in his church band, or playing with his bluegrass band. He also enjoyed traveling around to see his grandchildren participate in their various sporting and band events.
Mr. Diggs is survived by his beloved wife Bivia White Diggs; children Patrick (Catina) Diggs, Trussville, Rebekah (Adam) Huie, Huntsville; grandsons Jake, Dawson, Will, Corbin; sister Carolyn (Diggs) Ford, Oneonta. Mr. Diggs is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Thomas G. Diggs.
A graveside ceremony was held Sunday, Oct. 6, at 3 p.m., at Foster’s Chapel Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 13, at 5 p.m., at House of Grace Church, 3017 Third Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233. Lemley Funeral Home and Crematory directing.
