District 3 commission race goes to runoff

After four provisional ballots were added
to the tally for the Blount County District 3
commission race, a runoff was created out
of what had been Dean Calvert’s thin, twovote majority margin when regular and
absentee ballots were counted. Of the four
provisional ballots cast in the race, three
went to Pat Hyde, one went to Pat Bryant,
and none went to Dean Calvert, producing
the following final result:
Pat Bryant 723 21.44%
Dean Calvert 1,685 49.97%
Pat Hyde 964 28.59%
Calvert will face Hyde in the July 15 runoff.
