Join the Blount County-Oneonta Chamber of Commerce for an amazing evening in an amazing setting – Highland Lake. “Dinner at Dusk” is set for the gazebo park on the shores of Highland Lake adjacent to the town hall on Saturday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m.

The dinner features culinary creations from some of Blount County’s best restauranteurs and caterers. Appetizer and salad: whole baby okra fried in Cajun batter and served with remoulade, and spring asparagus salad with basil pesto, by Charlie B’s. Entree: beef tenderloin medallions with roasted brussel sprouts on a bed of creamy risotto with balsamic sauce, by Heritage’s Zack Standridge. Dessert: fresh strawberry cake, by Valor Catering. Live music by instrumentalist Tom Prickett. Table decor by Evans Florist.

The dinner in a picturesque hideaway is the first of a series of annual spring dinners planned for scenic settings around the county as a way of promoting Blount County to its own people. “The first one was an easy choice and it’s an ideal location,” said Chamber executive director Aimee Wilson. “Plus the town has been wonderful to work with, so helpful and welcoming.”

The event should be a highlight for both esthetes and gastronomes. Tickets are $35 for chamber members and $45 for nonmembers. A few are still available. Call 274-2153, or stop by the office inside Regions Bank.
