Dessert galore!

TLC Nursing Center residents and staff recently enjoyed constructing a 12-foot banana split, which may have set a Blount County record. Residents involved in the event ranged in ages from 36 to 99. The mammoth dessert contained 28 large bananas, three-and-a-half gallons of ice cream, four large tubs of Cool Whip, an abundance of chocolate, caramel, and raspberry syrups, and over one-half gallon of cherries. The center thanks Jerry Bullard Roofing for donating a 12-foot piece of gutter used for the bowl. Residents and staff felt like they had made a trip through Willie Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and had fallen into a vat of sweet delight. Needless to say no one wanted any supper that night. – Wallace Todd
