Dennis H. Beavers of Blountsville has been elected by the Hiwassee College Alumni Association to serve on the college’s Board of Governors. The college is a liberal arts institution located in Madisonville, Tenn. Beavers will serve as the tri-state area representative for Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee.
Hiwassee is one of the state’s oldest private colleges, established by Methodist educators in 1849. It is affiliated with the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church. It offers a diverse range of associate degree programs.
Beavers is a 1993 graduate of Hiwassee College and a 1995 graduate of the University of Tennessee. He has been in the insurance industry for over 10 years, starting two property and casualty insurance agencies in Blountsville. He currently owns the Dennis Beavers agency there and is affiliated with Farmers Insurance Group.
He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and has written over 50 published gospel songs since 1997. He and his family are active members of Blountsvile First United Methodist Church.
