DAVID LEON THOMAS, 60, Monroe, La., died Sept. 3, 2019, at the residence. He was a 1977 graduate of Hayden High School and lived and worked in the Hayden community almost his entire life. He enjoyed playing the piano and often used his musical talents to help and bless others in various ways. In 1990, he and his parents built and established The Jacobs House, an assisted living facility in Hayden, where he was the primary proprietor until shortly before his death. He worked tirelessly over the years to provide quality care to the elderly residents of the facility. He always had a passion and gift for helping people in need and he was able to use that gift to its fullest in his work with the elderly. Predeceasing him were parents Bruce Leon Thomas and Shirleen Jacobs Thomas.
Surviving are sister Amy (Wayne) Carr, Hoover; niece Abby (Charlie) Esskuchen, St. Simons Island, Ga.; nephew Hudson Carr, Huntsville; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Following cremation in Monroe, his remains were returned to Hayden for burial near his parents and grandparents at Graves Gap Cemetery.
