Judge Steven King sentenced Thomas Doyle Crowe, 34, of Blount County, to the death penalty on Tuesday. Last year, Crowe was found guilty of capital murder, and the jury voted 11-1 in favor of the death penalty.
Crowe was arrested for the murder of Marvin Allen Dailey, 71, a few days after Dailey was found dead in his burned-out house near Highland Lake on county road 29 in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day 2009.
During the sentencing, Crowe spoke on his own behalf stating he knew the trial was hard on everyone.
“Everybody knows I had a hard life, but I do have a life,” Crowe said. “I’m sorry it took so long for me to grow up.”
