Workers for Clements Dean, the contractor for courthouse front entrance renovation, continued working weekdays through the holiday season in an effort to bring the much-delayed project to a conclusion. As of last week, the stonework on the two front walls plus the inclined entrance ramp for the disabled was virtually complete, and cleanup work on the site had begun. Progress continues this week, with sodding of the front lawn hoped for within the next two weeks – ‘depending on the weather’ – according to building and grounds director William Blythe. Then the project will move to its final stages of renovation and relocation of sidewalks at the back of the building, along with improvements in the rear parking lot. The entire project is ‘winding down toward conclusion within about a month, Blythe said. That includes the door lock/access card portion of the enhanced courthouse security design, whereby employees will be issued access cards to allow entry.
