County students medal at state track meet


 

 

While all eight schools qualified students for the AHSAA state track meet, students from Oneonta earned medals in the 4A-7A classification and students from J.B. Pennington and Cleveland earned medals in the 1A-3A classification.

Oneonta’s Jaden Kent placed first in boys high jump with a 6-6 effort and third in the 400-meter with a time of 51 seconds. Wes Standridge placed second in boys javelin with a throw of 179-8. Kent and Standridge were selected for All-State in their medal events. Other teammates earning All-State honors were Macey Wallace (in 100-meter hurdles, high jump, long jump, and 4×400 relay), the girls 4×400 relay (Wallace, McKenzie Adams, Megan Haynes, and Caroline Teal) and girls 4×800 relay (Mary Meg Brewer, Adams, Haynes, and Teal).

J.B. Pennington’s Kara Smith placed first in girls discus with a 106-2 throw and second in girls shot put throwing 32-2 1/2. Devin Gronewold placed first in boys high jump with 6-6.

Cleveland’s Tara Randolph placed first in girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.63 seconds.
