The Corner Yellow Jackets built a 28-0 second-quarter lead and then held on for a 28-22 victory over visiting Hayden last Friday night. Corner improved to 2-3 with the win while Hayden fell to 0-5.
The Yellow Jackets were led by quarterback Blake Byrd, who ran for touchdowns of 1 and 5 yards and fired touchdown passes of 47 and 83 yards to Kerry Smith.
Hayden began to crawl back into the game in the second quarter when Corey Ward finished off a 70-yard drive with a 3-yard run.
Ward found Luke Wall on a 13-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter and Dylan Putman scored on a 1-yard run on the next possession.
However, Corner was able to run out the clock to secure the win.
Ward completed 13 of 37 for 116 yards. Wall caught five for 67 yards and Putman had 55 yards on 11 attempts.
Corner finished with 410 yards of offense while Hayden managed just 186.
