DAY OF SERVICE To coincide with other projects around the country on Monday, Jan. 15, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Blount County residents are invited to assist with cleaning, organizing, fence clearing, and minor construction at Rocky Creek Equine, a local non-profit agency that provides animal-related contact therapy for children and adults with disabilities. ROBERT E. LEE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION will be held at the Rosa Town Hall, just north of Oneonta, on Monday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. The confederate cannon will be fired and guest speaker will be Past Commander, Gary Carlyle, Alabama Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans. UNITY CELEBRATION The third annual event will be at noon on Monday, Jan. 15, at The Little Brick Church in Oneonta. After the short ceremony, lunch will be served at Lester Memorial United Methodist Church fellowship hall.

HOPE HOUSE THRIFT STORE is in need of gently used furniture, appliances, apparel, and household items. Please donate clean items in working condition. This allows the organization to provide items to needy Blount County residents at a low cost. All donations are tax deductible.
