Six games this Saturday at Cleveland

Cleveland High School will again be the host site for the annual Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser this Saturday.

Several ranked teams will be take part in this year’s event, including a battle of ranked girls teams at 2 p.m.

The first game of the day will feature the Locust Fork girls taking on Vinemont at 11 a.m. followed by the Vinemont boys facing Westbrook Christian at 12:30 p.m.

The 2 p.m. game might be the best of the day as the Holly Pond girls (No. 6 in 3A) meet Section (No. 8 in 2A). At 3:30 p.m., Brannon Smith’s Locust Fork Hornets will face powerful Section (No. 3 in 2A).

At 5 p.m., the J.B. Pennington girls will meet Cleveland and the day concludes with what should be a good one when the Holly Pond Broncos take on the Cleveland Panthers in a rematch of a game that Holly Pond won 70-59 earlier this year in the Holly Pond Thanksgiving Tournament.

Admission for this Saturday’s allday event is just $5 and donations will be accepted throughout the day. Anyone who cannot attend but still wishes to donate can call Cleveland High School at 274-9915. All proceeds from the event will go to the American Cancer Society.
