City pride

The city’s diligence in mowing green spaces over town is gratifying. Expanses of well tended grass improve the town’s appearance and increase townspeople’s pride in their city. (And for heaven’s sake, if you haven’t noticed it, don’t admit it. If you have noticed it but haven’t thanked the city, it isn’t too late.)

It would also be a good time to thank businesses who attractively maintain their premises. Comes to mind Corr Wireless for the expansive green space it meticulously tends. That property greets motorists entering town down the hill on U.S. 231.

Then there’s Marlene Stroud, chairman of Oneonta Beautification Committee. Not only does she encourage homeowner and business to create beauty, she digs, plants, and weeds along sidewalks downtown. It’s called putting your energy where your mouth is.
