UNION HILL BAPTIST CHURCH will host a free community concert Sunday, April 26, at 7 p.m. featuring the bluegrass gospel group Barry Scott & Second Wind. Musicians are Barry Scott, guitar and vocals; Travis Hauck, dobro and vocals; Jason Leek, bass guitar and vocals; Matthew Munsey, mandolin and vocals; and Zane Petty, banjo. LESTER MEMORIAL METHODIST CHURCH fellowship hall is planned site for a “Hee Haw” program at 5:30 p.m. April 25-April 26. There will be no tickets this year, but donations will be accepted to benefit the ASP (Appalachian Service Project) trip to Wolfe County, Ky., where church members will work to improve residents’ living conditions. Sponsors say come out and enjoy good food, good singing, good fellowship, and good jokes (well, at least jokes!).

CLEVELAND CHURCH OF GOD will have W.P. Smith as guest Sunday, April 26, at 1:30 p.m. W.P. Smith is a singer, songwriter, and comedian whose current song “Light of Heaven’s Door” reached the number-two spot on Christian radio charts. SOUTHSIDE CHURCH on Hudson Avenue in Oneonta will have its second annual spring fling Saturday, April 18, from 10 am. until 3 p.m. Church members urge visitors to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the music, food, and fun. There is no admission.

REDEEMERS REFUGE CHURCH, 320 Wilson Chapel Road, Friday’s Crossing community, will have family day Sunday, April 19. There will be a presentation of mission trip from Africa, praise/worship, covered-dish lunch, and afternoon message. Service starts at 10 a.m. as there is no Sunday school on family day. Contact J.J. BLOUNTSVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH men will serve a barbecue dinner Friday, April 24, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. A choice of ribs, Boston butt, or chicken will be served with the traditional cole slaw, baked beans, and dessert for $10 per plate. SNEAD BAPTIST CHURCH will host a “town hall meeting for hope,” a live nationwide meeting via the internet with Dave Ramsey, on April 23 at 7 p.m. Dave Ramsey is a Nashville-based financial advisor and radio host, famous for his faith-based financial planning seminars. The church is hoping for a full house for this event.

GREATER LOVE MINISTRIES will have a praise and worship day Saturday, April 18, at 2 p.m. at Walnut Grove Community Center, behind city hall at the city park. MT. PLEASANT BAPTIST CHURCH, 4111 Susan Moore Rd., Blountsville, will have an “outdoor extravaganza” April 18 presented by M.U.D. (Making “U” Disciples) Ministries. Events include 3-D archery setup, kids archery/casting, adult skeet/rimfire shooting, door prizes, and drawing for a free hunting trip: “Hunt of a Lifetime,” 3-day South Alabama bow hunt, quail hunt for two people. Firearms and ammunition will be provided; no outside firearms will be allowed.

PLEASANT MOUNT BAPTIST CHURCH on Pine Mountain will sponsor its annual golf tournament April 18 at Whippoorwill Golf Course. Tee-off time is 8 a.m. The tournament will feature two-person teams with a $50 registration fee per person. Men and women welcome. Each player who signs up a $100-hole sponsor plays free. First-place team will receive $200 and the second place team $100. Proceeds go to the church trust fund to assist people needing help with electric bills, groceries, doctor bills, prescription medicines, and other necessities.
