Oneonta’s Rose Garden Club, along with the Blount County Memorial Museum, is collecting toys which will be given at Christmas to children throughout the county. This is the 14th year of the toy drive.
Museum curator Amy Rhudy said the gifts can be either a toy or clothing for children 18 and under. She asks donors to drop off unwrapped presents at the museum no later than Dec. 18. The gifts will be under the patriot Christmas tree at the museum until they are distributed by the Blount County Department of Human Resources. The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The museum also has limited edition bicentennial Christmas ornaments for sale. One ornament shows the outline of the county (pictured at left), and the others feature four of the county’s covered bridges. Rhudy said they have a limited quantity left, and they will not be reordered. They can be purchased for $15 each at the museum. The proceeds go to support the museum and its programs.
