Children’s landmark art

As part of the summer reading program, the Oneonta Public Library has a variety of paintings featuring Blount County landmarks on display in the children’s area.

Under the direction of Laurie Bailey, owner of ArtsyOne Designs in Oneonta, several Oneonta students had nine weeks of art classes utilizing different painting techniques and mediums.

Bailey said, “My main goal is for kids to be able to get their imaginations going and for them to have fun learning and to create as much art as possible. Kids really need this.”

At the end of the nine weeks, the students were required to locate a Blount County landmark to research and paint. Some of the landmarks chosen include the public library, The Little Brick Church, a covered bridge, and downtown Oneonta.
