Children’s Center receives grant

The Blount County Children’s Center (BCCC) recently received a donation from Greg Long on behalf of Matthews Children’s Foundation (MCF). Long, who owns Long Family Funeral Homes, presented representatives of BCCC with a check for $1,000 (pictured at right). “The Children’s Center does a lot of good work in our area and we are pleased to be able to present this to them to help fund the important work they do,” Long said.

“Greg reached out to us about helping the Children’s Center several months ago and we were both excited when we found out that they had been selected to receive these funds,” said Mike Jaudon, representative of MCF. The MCF awards grants to children’s organizations across the country. Since 1992, they have granted close to $4 million to community based non-profit children’s organizations. “We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with companies and organizations who are willing to help us give back to our community,” Long said.

Jim Ed Clayton, BCCC director, said, “We are extremely thankful for Greg and the folks at Lemley Funeral Home for working to get this grant for us.”
