The first 2013 meeting of the Blount County-Oneonta Chamber of Commerce kicks off its new format today by breaking with the breakfast tradition of several years standing. The meeting today, Jan. 23, is a luncheon scheduled for 12 noon at Twin Oaks at Heritage Green.
Also, the meeting will feature a 30-minute presentation by executives of the Birmingham Business Alliance who will present an overview of resources available to Blount County through that organization.
“We encourage all local businesses – banks, retailers, law offices, government officials, and real estate professionals – to come hear and meet some of the best economic developers and business retention professionals in the country,” said chamber director Donny Ray.
Ray said the monthly chamber meeting will vary in coming months according to time of day, with breakfasts, luncheons, and perhaps evening meetings scheduled from time to time. Announcements as to time and place will be made each month.
He said the reason is to vary the time so as to be convenient for interested citizens who have not been able to attend the breakfast at the traditional early morning hour.
