The Blount County-Oneonta Chamber of Commerce will hold its January luncheon today at 12 noon at Twin Oaks, with Public Service Commissioner Jeremy Oden as guest speaker. Oden, up for election for the first time since he was appointed in December of 2012, will discuss the Public Service Commission’s regulatory processes, a subject of considerable controversy in light of Alabama Power’s informal rate hearings during the past year. Chamber sustaining partner Tennessee Valley Metals will sponsor the luncheon and program at no cost to chamber members. February Chamber breakfast
The chamber will hold its February monthly program as a breakfast in Snead. Time is Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 a.m. Monthly events will be held at various locations throughout the county in the coming year. Annual banquet
The date is set for the 2014 annual Chamber Banquet. It will be March 18, at the World Outreach Center. Nominations for Citizen of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Business of the Year, Industry of the Year, and Community Service Organization of the Year are now being accepted.
