The Blount-Oneonta Chamber announces its Anti-Litter Slogan Contest. The contest closes Monday, July 6. The purpose of the contest is to select a Blount County anti-litter slogan for use to encourage people to keep Blount County clean and free of debris.
Chamber director Barbara Andersen had this to say about keeping Blount County clean: “There are very few counties in the United States that can match both the rugged beauty and the incredible biodiversity that we enjoy here. This is such a stunningly gorgeous place. Unfortunately, since we live and work here every day, it is easy to take for granted this abundance of natural riches that we possess. Not only does litter spoil our lovely landscape, but also it can actually harm wildlife that consumes or becomes entangled in it.”
To participate, you must live in Blount County and may only submit one entry. Mail entries to the Chamber of Commerce at P.O. Box 1487, Oneonta. Mailed entries must be postmarked by 5 p.m. on July 6. They can also be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or by private message on Facebook. Entries must include your name and phone number. All entries become the property of the Chamber.
First, second, and third place winners will respectively receive $50, $30, and $20 gift certificates to the Blount County business of their choice. Also, the winning entry will be incorporated into a mural being completed by the Friends of the Locust Fork River.
