Auditions for The Blount County Community Arts Council’s production of ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ will be held Friday, April 15, at 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 16, at 10 a.m. at Neely Arts Center downtown.
Multiple parts must be filled including men, women, and children of both races for the Harper Lee classic of prejudice, justice, and their terrifying contradictions in the deep South, as seen through the eyes of a child.
“This drama really resonates today with the tensions we’re continuing to see between law enforcement and the communities they serve,“ said Chase Moore, who will handle auditions and direct the play. “The county, our communities, our youth, and our leaders – we all need the insights it provides.”
The play is tentatively scheduled to be performed the last weekend in July. Exact times and the venue will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
