BLOUNT COUNTY COMMISSION will hold a special called meeting Friday, April 3, at 9 a.m., in the commission boardroom at the courthouse, to determine protocol for re-opening county buildings and facilities to the public and other related topics concerning the state of emergency. The courthouse remains closed to public traffic, but the meeting may be viewed via Facebook live feed.
ALABAMA COOPERATIVE EXTENSION OFFICE in Blount County is closed. All programs, events, and meetings related to the Extension and 4-H are cancelled. Employees are working remotely from home and can answer phone calls and emails. BLOUNT COUNTY CHILDREN’S CENTER The Annual Blue Ribbon Dinner and prize drawing scheduled for April 28 has been cancelled. The dinner is the center’s major fundraiser. The pandemic will also cause the center to lose some grant funding. Gifts are always appreciated, even more so at this time.
