On Sunday afternoon surrounded by family, coaches, and teammates, Oneonta’s Aailyah Byrd signed a softball scholarship to Snead State Community College. A 2021 graduate of OHS, Byrd has been an integral part of the Lady Redskins during her tenure on the team.

As lead-off batter, Byrd closed out her high school career with a .452 batting average with 38 hits in 84 at bats. She scored 41 runs and knocked in 22 runners. She drew only 10 walks this season and struck out just six times. Byrd finished with 14 stolen bases, six home runs, nine doubles, and five triples.

“Beyond blessed and excited to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Snead State Community College,” Byrd said. “I would like to thank all my family, teammates, and coaches.”

Byrd is the daughter of Amanda Clem and Jerome Byrd.
