Donald Bradley, Oneonta resident for eight years and a member of the Parks and Recreation Board for the past year, was appointed to the vacant council seat left by the resignation of Nathaniel Butler.

In accepting the appointment recommended by Mayor Ross Norris and approved by the council, Bradley said, “I would like to thank you for your support and I look forward to working with you all and with the business owners and citizens.”

Norris thanked everyone who applied. He said he and the council had never needed to make an appointment before. “We appreciate all who entered their names,” he added. Bradley has a 17-year history of working with municipalities and coaching little league.

In other matters, Marlene Stroud presented the Oneonta Beautification Board’s business award to attorney Bonnie Peavy for the balcony off her office and the residential award to Jon and Rachel Gehri for their outdoor fall display on Alabama Avenue.

The council approved an adjusted lower expenditure of $10,322.88 for security camera purchase and installation at the Oneonta Public Library. The original cost was slightly over $11,000.

The council’s next regular meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 5:30 p.m., at City Hall.
