A group of bones found beneath Easley Covrered Bridge over the weekend was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensics Laboratory in Huntsville Monday morning where they were quickly found not to be human.
Word of the discovery by an artifact hunter working the area beneath the bridge was spreading quickly by word of mouth before being quieted by mid-morning Monday with word from the lab.
One witness who saw the bones but did not wish to be identified said they “looked like they’d been there a long time” because they were brownish in color.“Looked like ham bones to me,” he said. The bones had been turned over to Blount County Sheriff’s deputies shortly after they were found, then transported to the laboratory Monday morning.
Much ado. False alarm.
