Body found after house fire in Cleveland

One body was found in a burned-out house in Cleveland, according to Investigator Fred Cochran of the Blount County Sheriff’s Department.

The body was found burned beyond recognition and investigators are relying on dental records sent to forensics to confirm the identity, according to Cochran. However, other sources have identified the victim as Randy Longshore.

The house, which had no water or power, was located near the intersection of Ala 79 and Swann Bridge Road. Fire departments received the call about the blaze near midnight on Thursday, and the fire was reported under control at 5 a.m. The source of the fire is still being investigated.
