Board hears first reading of 2020 fiscal year budget

In a special meeting Tuesday, the Oneonta City Board of Education heard the first presentation of the proposed 2020 fiscal year budget. The second presentation of the budget will be Aug. 26, at 5:30 p.m., after which the board will vote on adopting it.

The board also approved operating recommendations by Superintendent Daniel Smith. It approved: Concerning students

• enrollment of two elementary school non-resident students and continued enrollment of three high school non-resident students for the 2019-2020 school year. Concerning personnel

• the resignation of Dreama Young, Oneonta City Schools Child Nutrition Program director, effective Aug. 16.

• Jill Phillips as volunteer coach for high school basketball for the 2019-2020 school year. Other

• awarding the bid for construction of the maintenance and transportation storage building to Deep South Buildings, with a bid of $37,469. Final price with the sole bidder was negotiated for a total of $36,469.
