Board approves flurry of personnel appointments


At its Monday night meeting the Oneonta school board approved a flurry of personnel and related actions as the first day of fall semester approaches Aug. 6.

The board approved:

• voluntary transfer of Liz Miller from the multihandicap position to K-5 special education teacher.

• employment of Katrina Painter, elementary special education aide.

• employment of Tithee Faulkner, elementary school special education aide.

• suppplement schedule for coaches.

• resignation of Justin Bryant, middle school physical education teacher.

• employment of Brandon Moore, middle school physical education teacher.

• assignment of extra duties for Keith Bender.

• assignment of extra duties for Heidi Chambers.

• volunteer coaches for 2015-2016 school year.

• rescinding long-term substitute Brooke Camp.

• Stanley Moss as substitute during maternity leave for Jaclyn Ashby, high school family and consumer science teacher.

Actions affecting students

The board approved:

• enrollment of three non-resident students for the middle school.

• enrollment of six non-resident students for the high school.

Contracted services

The board approved the following contract service providers for the 2015-2016 school year:

Debbie Collins Physical therapy
Kristal Moman Occupational therapist
Lindsay Yarbrough Occupational therapist assistant
Linda Tidwell Homebound services
Matthew L. Remick Psychologist services
JBS Mental Health Certified therapist and
behavioral counseling


The board approved:

• contribution to the Blount County Juvenile Court System.

• busses 97-4 and 97-8 as surplus property.

Superintendent’s report

Superintendent Michael Douglas noted in a brief report that a tour of the school by the Oneonta City Council is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, at 2:30 p.m. He also noted the need discussed earlier in the preceding work session for a board retreat to be scheduled after Aug. 27. Chief financial officer Cathy Loggins informed the board that budget meetings for fiscal year 2016 are scheduled for Aug. 18 at noon and Aug. 31 at 4:30 p.m., immediately preceding the scheduled board meeting.
