Blountsville Walking/Biking Trail ‘95 percent complete’

The Blountsville Walking/Biking Trail, located on Park Drive at the Blountsville Recreation Park, is virtually complete, according to Blountsville city clerk Alethea Bailey. All that remains is final inspection and closeout of paperwork on the $125,000, 0.5-mile asphalt track built with funds from a federal Department of Transportation grant. As a matter of fact, it’s already being used, Bailey said. The track circles the youth football field at the park, beginning near the Blountsville Recreation Park sign. The Blount Countian can attest from personal experience that the trail ‘walks out’very nicely with enjoyable views of the surrounding park facilities and a spacious, smooth surface that provides adequate space to accommodate both bikers and walkers. (Outside lane for bikers, inside for walkers.) Good exercise venue: five stars. – Ron Gholson
