Blountsville robbery suspects arrested

Two Cullman County brothers have been charged with burglary in connection to a string of robberies in the Blountsville area before Christmas.

The crimes occurred within a two-mile radius of each other along county road 47. In all, four houses were burglarized on either Dec. 4 or 5 with items taken ranging from jewelry and knives to guns and collectables.

The older of the two brothers – age 25 – is being held in the Shelby County Jail on similar charges with bond set at $300,000. He has 15 prior burglary charges against him.

The younger brother – age 19 – was booked into the Blount County Jail last week but has since been released on $18,000 bond.

The pair are facing four counts each of burglary 3rd degree.

In a separate incident, a Morgan County man has been arrested and charged with the theft of a boat.

The Falkville man, who was arrested in Cullman County, is charged with stealing a $14,000 bass boat from a residence on Timmerman Road in the Royal area.

The man was spotted in Cullman County towing the boat behind a truck that was also found to be stolen. In the ensuing chase, the boat and trailer came loose from the truck and were heavily damaged.

The man is in the Cullman County Jail and will be charged with theft of property 1st degree.
