Blountsville deals with routine resolutions

At its regular meeting Monday, Blountsville Town Council passed a resolution agreeing with the state Department of Transportation to sign all permits and necessary documentation needed for the fire-station construction project and covering drainage for the station as well as its entrance.

Mayor Randy Millwood told the council the fire-station project was coming along well.

The mayor and council also passed a resolution supporting the expeditious completion of the Northern Beltline in order to address regional transportation needs.

The Northern Beltline is the proposed 50.8- mile by-pass around Birmingham through northern and western Jefferson County. The nearest it’s planned to come to Blount County is near Pinson between Ala 75 and Ala 79.

The Sept. 5 council meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 30, due to Labor Day. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
