The Blountsville Town Council Monday night rescinded the action it took in its June 16 meeting to remove the tax proceeds allocation formula from its liquor tax ordinance.
Council member Dennis Beavers moved last night to accept the June 16 minutes, removing the last action item covered in the minutes, because it did not meet Alabama League of Municipality guidelines for changing an ordinance. The last item was the action the council took to remove the formula from the ordinance. Dicey Childers seconded the motion and it passed by unanimous vote of the council.
The formula, an attachment to the ordinance, specifies that 40 percent of the tax proceeds be dedicated to street and infrastructure maintenance; 25 percent to parks, playgrounds, the library and other public properties; 25 percent to Blountsville schools; and 10 percent to economic development.
