The Blount County Sports Hall of Fame was officially founded approximately 10 years ago but has been dormant for the past few years. That is about to change.
The Oneonta Rotary Club has taken over the hall and will hold an induction ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 24, at Twin Oaks at Heritage. The formal event will feature a silent auction with doors opening at 6 p.m. and dinner served at 6:30. Tickets, which may be purchased at several locations, will be $25 each and will be available beginning Aug. 1.
All proceeds from the event will go to the club’s scholarship fund as each year scholarships are awarded to students in the both the Blount County and Oneonta City school systems.
Businesses or individuals who
wish to help sponsor the event, either through a sponsorship or donations for the silent auction, may call Rotary Club president Barbara Andersen at 559-2206.
