The event was held Feb. 9 in the J.B. Pennington High School auditorium. It was a magical year for Makenna. It was her first year to participate and she won the county championship. The winning word was animosity. Participating were the 12 school winners from Blount County Schools plus the two contestants from Oneonta City Schools. Trophies for the winner and runner-up were provided by the Blount County Education Foundation and awarded by Blount County assistant superintendent Dr. Stoney Beavers.
