Blount County represented in USA All American Softball Games

The USA All American Softball Games took place recently in Oklahoma City. There were 24 teams representing ten regions across the country. Eight players were chosen from Alabama, two of them from Blount County. Ansley Armstrong and Miah Simmons, both in the eighth grade at Hayden Middle School, competed in Region 4 at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex. Armstrong is a catcher for the Wildcats and Simmons is a pitcher. Players from the region were from Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi.

Simmons’ team, Region 4 Blue, lost in the quarter-finals. Armstrong’s team, Region 4 Red, made it all the way to the semi-finals where it lost.

The parents of Armstrong and Simmons said the girls had “an awesome experience”. Armstrong is the daughter of Rodger and Lisa Armstrong. Simmons is the daughter of John and Maria Simmons.
