BILLY FRANKLIN HARPER, 86, Wilson Chapel community, died Sept. 12, 2020, at the residence. He retired from the Alabama Highway Department after 30 years and then worked for Allgas for 10 years. He loved farming and gardening. Predeceasing him were wife of 65 years Shelby Jean Harper; son Allen Harper; grandchildren Keith Harper, Cory Smith, and Crystal Smith; parents Virgil and Mattie Harper; and 10 siblings.
Surviving are children Jeff (Vinnie) Harper, Sherry Elaine (Bert) Harper, Jeanne (Barry) Smith; grandchildren Rocky Harper, Bubba (Stacey) Harper, David (Holly) Harper, Daniel (Angelica) Thomason, Shane (Karen) Harper, Rexall (Kodi) Harper, Miranda (Andrew) Pennell, Jonathan (Harley) Hendrix, Makala Smith, Brianna Smith, Brandon Smith, Shayla Smith; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Emogene Harper.
Willie D. Harper and Barry Smith officiated the noon service held Sept. 15 at the Chapel of Snead Funeral Home. Burial followed at Wynnville Cemetery with Rocky Harper, Bubba Harper, Shane Harper, Rex Harper, David Harper, Daniel Thomason, John Paul Hendrix, and Brandon Smith serving as pallbearers.
