Between the Lines

Here we are, raking in the heat and prepping for a summer of events and fun times. After the summer of 2020, and its highs and lows, I know each of us are ready for a good time! Normally, November is the time of year where we gather and give thanks for all of our many blessings. Well, that being said, I hereby declare the summer of 2021 the summer of thanksgiving.

I’ll start.

I’m thankful for each and every one of you for being you.

I’m thankful you are healthy and able to enjoy this season.

I’m thankful that I don’t have to be concerned to shake your hand or give you a hug.

I’m thankful that water is plentiful here, because we’re going to need it!

I’m thankful our streets are bustling again where we have events to enjoy and fellowship.

I’m thankful that local businesses are able to breathe and not fear the future with such a sense of the unknown.

I’m thankful that we are seeing smiles again and not just having to imagine them.

I’m thankful that the world is coming back. Albeit, we still have a ways to go, but we are none-the-less on the road to normalcy.

I’m thankful that each of you are here and able to be thankful with me. We lost many, too many, over the past year.

So there you have my summer 2021 “List of things I am grateful for” in this moment. I know this list will grow and grow and ultimately merge with all the other things I am eternally grateful for. It’s just nice to have something to look forward to again, y’all.

Your Friend,

Richard Phillips
