The Plainview Bears used a highpowered running game and a stingy defense to cruise to a 41-14 victory over J.B. Pennington in Blountsville Friday night.
The Tiger offense put up solid numbers with 360 total yards – 195 on the ground; 165 through the air – but it wasn’t enough to overcome four turnovers on the night.
Brandon Butts completed 14 of 27 passes for 165 yards but was intercepted three times.
Butts led the Tigers with 100 yards on 16 carries while Jacob Washburn had 52 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 11 carries. Brenner Drain added 38 yards on five attempts.
Butts completed passes to eight different receivers. Colby Bagwell caught three passes for 41 yards while Drain had three catches for 19 yards. Washburn caught two for 15 yards.
Dustin Wilson and Aubrey Bottomlee led the Tiger defense with 14 tackles each. Washburn added 12 stops. Timothy Johnson had six tackles and an interception and blocked an extra point.
J.B. Pennington (1-3) travels to Locust Fork this week.
