Be generous

I’ve been told that some restaurant owners keep the tips. If you use your credit or debit card and include your tips on the card, some owners are said to keep whatever portion they want.

To me, this is stealing. The owner sets the prices, which I am willing to pay. The tips are (in my opinion) for the server, for a job well done. Food servers are usually not paid even minimum wage and depend on tips for their livelihood.

I ask that when you, as the consumer, tip, please do so generously and in cash. Leave the tip on the table or hand it directly to your food server, and saying “thank you” wouldn’t hurt. Trust me; they will remember you next time.

We are all in this together. During these hard times, if we can’t be generous, at least be polite and honest.
