Basketball gets cranked back up this week as students return to school from Christmas break. Several teams participated in tournaments over the holidays.

Thursday, Dec. 20
at Saint Bernard
Varsity Girls
Southeastern 46, Vinemont 28

The Lady Mustangs had multiple leaders to contribute to their victory over Vinemont in the Saint Bernard Christmas Tournament. Kassandra Soto scored 14 points and also had six rebounds and four steals. Laura Jett had 15 points, six steals, and two rebounds. Morgan Hill was just shy of a double-double with eight points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks.

Saint Bernard 52, Southeastern 32

The Lady Mustangs came up short in their tournament game against Saint Bernard. Laura Jett scored 14 points and had five steals, and three rebounds. Kasandra Soto had 10 points, seven steals, four rebounds, and three blocks. Peyton Lindley had nine points, seven assists, and one steal. Morgan Hill had eight points, nine rebounds, and one block.

at Mortimer Jordan

Locust Fork 50, Briarwood Christian 42

Locust Fork traveled to Mortimer Jordan for their Christmas tournament. The Hornets first victory was a win over Briarwood Christian. Carissa Horton led the Lady Hornets with 25 points and nine rebounds as well as three assists and two steals. Skylar Massey had 10 points and three assists. Madison Roy had nine points, two rebounds, and two assists.

Oak Mountain 66, Locust Fork 55

The Lady Hornets fell short in their second game of the Blue Devils Christmas tournament, but had impressive individual stats.

Carissa Horton had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds as well as five assists and two steals. Maleah Adams contributed 15 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Madison Roy had 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Sydney Baker had eight points, three rebounds, and one block. Syklar Massey had six points, two assists, and one rebound.

Locust Fork 50, Mortimer Jordan 47

The Lady Hornets’ final Christmas tournament game was a nail-biter, taking home a three-point win over the Blue Devils and improving their record to 12-5.

Locust Fork had the lead at half-time 24-20. The Lady Hornets scored 14 points in the third quarter and 12 in the fourth, while Mortimer Jordan scored 15 points in the third and 12 in the fourth.

Madison Roy led the Lady Hornets with 19 points, 15 of which came from three-pointers. Roy also had three assists, two steals, and one rebound. Maleah Adams had 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Sydney Baker was just shy of a double-double with 10 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and one assist.
