Baseball playoffs begin this weekend

As the regular season of high school baseball comes to an end this week, the weekend marks the start of a new season for many of Blount County’s baseball teams as they hit the diamond for the first series in the opening round of the 2021 Alabama State Playoffs. The road to Montgomery starts Friday for Appalachian, Hayden, Oneonta, J.B. Pennington, Southeastern, and Susan Moore.

Appalachian hosts Marion County at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Southeastern travels to Altamont Friday with game one starting at 5 p.m. followed by game two at 7 p.m.

J.B.Pennington hosts Vinemont Friday with game one at 1 p.m. and game two and 3:30 p.m.

Susan Moore travels to Phil Campbell for a 4:30 p.m. game and 6:30 p.m. game on Friday.

Oneonta hosts Fayette County at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Hayden travels to Leeds Friday. The first game is at 3:30 p.m. followed by game two at 6 p.m.

If needed in any of these series, game three will be played Saturday. Check our website for times.
