Mr. and Mrs. Chris Autry of Huntsville announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Christen Autry, to Benjamin Michael Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Rogers of Gadsden.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Farrin Jr. of Carlton, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Autry of Covington, Ga. A graduate of Excalibur Christian School, she received training as a violin teacher through the Suzuki Association of the Americas and presently teaches Suzuki violin at New Song School of Music. She is currently pursuing a degree in nursing at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Bernice Jenkins and the late Boots Jenkins of Bruce, Miss., and Elnora Rogers and the late Calvin Rogers of Oneonta. He graduated summa cum laude
from Hillsdale College with a bachelor of arts degree in classical studies. After interning in Washington, DC, for a year at the Heritage Foundation, he attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine.
The couple will move this summer to Winston-Salem, N.C., where he will begin residency training in internal medicine at Wake Forest University.
The wedding will be May 30, 2009, at Providence Baptist Church in Huntsville.
