Arrest made in theft at Ace Hardware

The Oneonta Police Department is investigating a re-occurring, after-hours theft totalling over $1,000 at Ace Hardware this past week.

Investigator Jimmy Baldwin said an arrest was made after OPD obtained surveillance video and identified the suspect. He was charged with second degree theft and booked in the county jail.

Other thefts reported include $3,500 cash and a debit card taken from a residence, and a lawnmower stolen from another residence. The debit card stolen from the first residence has been fraudulently used.

During the week, a public intoxication arrest was made when a person was found passed out in front of the ABC Select Spirits liquor store.

Arrests over the past week include a driving under the influence – controlled substance, three arrests via warrants, and an arrest where methamphetamine, a firearm, and switched car tag was confiscated.

Several misdemeanor domestic violence incidents have also been reported over the past few days.
