Last week, Erica’s Salon was announced as the winner of the third-annual Oneonta Business Association (OBA) holiday decorating contest with their “White Christmas in the Woods” display (pictured above).
“We’ve entered each year and always hoped we would win, so we were so excited when we were told we won,” said Erica Self, owner of Erica’s Salon.
Self, along with hairdresser Mandy Brewer (both pictured, inset), donned their window display with white lights and gold decorations to win the award of $500.
TLC Nursing Center won second place, as well as People’s Choice winner (voted on through Facebook), and received $250. Interiors by Design came in third and won $100. Hicks Floral Designs, O’So Good BBQ and Realty South received honorable mention recognition.
This is the biggest year for the decorating contest so far with 29 entries. OBA representatives say their goal for the decorating contest is to make Oneonta a holiday destination.
“We would love to see more businesses, organizations, and individuals participate next year so that the entire city is decked out in Christmas finery,”said Patti Moss Williams, OBA publicity and promotion chairperson.“Palisades Park is already an outstanding exhibition. Let’s add Oneonta to the Christmas touring map by helping the OBA with this worthwhile effort.”
