I noticed that in the Nov. 13 issue of the paper there were four articles devoted to the alcohol issue, three of them written by staff writers, and one by columnist Steve Flowers.
The largest front page article extolled the virtues of the “progressive” citizens group. There were numerous reasons given why Blount County (Oneonta) should become wet. I thought it providential that the Steve Flowers article titled “The fight against underage drinking” appeared in the same issue.
The statistics he shared should be enough to cause grave concern about allowing alcohol sales in Oneonta. The underage drinking problem could become an unwelcome addition to a wet Oneonta.
Is this what we want?
